Project Voodoo on hold...for now! Buttt....

only because it's being moved to unit 9. So now Project Voodoo will be our final year project and what we'll base our final exhibition on. When I say 'our' I mean me and one other person - Cheryl Walker (Check out here website! http://www.wix.com/sootyandteddy/cheryl She specialises in mixed media, hand-made cut-out style and organic pieces) We have a person writing the script for us, but as far as the hands on stuff goes - it's me and Cheryl with help at hand if we need it from our tutor.

Anyway...that's Project Voodoo! But that's being put to a side for now....sort of. I'll still be working on bits and pieces when I can, especially the model making. Ideally it would be fantastic if we have the models and set made by the time unit 9 begins, so we're all set and ready to film!

So....the new project!

Here's a little from the brief...

"A young girl, 'lil' growing up in a rural area in a claustrophobic and almost abusive home, with her neurotic mother and alcoholic father. The film starts where she is waiting for a letter to come through the letterbox to say whether she has a place at university and more importantly she waits for this letter so her father doesn't see it first. The film is the story of that day and the decision she has to make. I want to mix animation into my film in subtle, stylised way. Her family are always telling her that the world outside is horrible and there are bad people outside and if she goes out there, the big bad wolf will get her. But the reality is that big bad wolf is right there at home. I want the animation to appear in reflections (windows, mirrors, picture glass) throughout the film, which will be around 10 minutes long."

The style....

The style the client has pitched to us is a Pan's Labyrinth, eerie, sinister sort of look, black and white silhouette style. She showed us this video to help us get an idea of the kind of thing she was after...

The rough storyboards have to be in by the end of November...so watch this space!
